Möbius Display

Möbius Display is a display sculpture of flexible EL panels in the shape of a Möbius strip. This strip is like a ring, but with only one edge and one face. This special two-dimensional shape, that only exists in the third dimension, can’t be seen entirely from one spot which forces the viewer to move around, in contrast to the flat displays we view daily. This stimulates the viewer to look at a display in a new way.

Möbius Display consists of 12 Arduinos that drive 96 EL panels. An EL panel is a flexible sheet of plastic that is silkscreened with a layer of phosphor that lights up when high voltage (>100V) runs through it. One Arduino can turn 8 EL panels on or off and all Arduinos independently execute the same script that suggests motion.
